run a antivirus/spyware removal program. Microsoft has a free one, and Adaware and Spybot are free and good as well. Run several programs to make sure everything is caught.

If you know the specific name of the virus, you can search for specific tools for removal. Symantec has a number of removal tools, and very specific information on removal.

Be sure to follow removal procedures if the virus is found.

Unfortunately, just deleting a virus manually often won't be enough to actually remove it. Some need to be removed from your system registry or they will keep reinfecting your computer. If you are running Window XP, you need to stop autorestore process, delete the virus, and retart the process, or you can be reinfected. You don't want to mess with your registry unless you know what you are doing and are very very careful, so use the tools first - I'm sure one of them will be able to do the trick!

Also, don't forget to use windows updates often.
get nortan anti-virus it will clean up all that junk
do a full system recovery
